Hulu, a streaming service, features a wide range of TV shows and movies. It also has its own productions. Hulu continues to gain popularity due to the fact that it makes new episodes of many of its shows immediately after they air on television. Netflix and other competitors like it tend to wait until the entire season has been aired.
Hulu subscriptions may be right for you if you have a favorite show that you cannot wait to watch. Take a look at all the subscription options available before you sign up to Hulu.
Hulu’s basic ad-supported plan is the most affordable. This tier allows you to access Hulu’s entire library of TV shows, movies, as well as Hulu originals. This tier is relatively affordable, but it will require you to endure commercial breaks when streaming movies and shows.
Hulu’s basic plan allows you stream on up to two devices simultaneously. A subscription can be used for up to six user profiles.
This plan is what most subscribers choose. It’s an excellent deal if you don’t mind watching commercials. Hulu’s basic plan costs $6.99 per month, or $69.99 for the full year. Prepaying for one year of Hulu is possible only with this plan.
This streaming service plan also offers a student rate. Hulu can be subscribed to by eligible students for $1.99/month.
Hulu (No Ads)
Hulu (No Ads Plan) includes everything in the basic Hulu plan, but without the ads. Well, mostly. Some shows will still have ads before and after every episode, even if you are on an ad-free subscription. Hulu has a list of impacted shows.
Hulu No Ads also allows you to save content for offline viewing . Not all movies and shows are available for download. Access to Hulu Watch Party is also included in the plan. This feature allows up eight people to join the watchparty and stream a movie together. They can also chat during the viewing party.

Although ads are an integral part of traditional TV viewing, those who have grown used to Netflix’s ad-free experience may find them annoying. Hulu’s ad free subscription is a good option if you are looking to skip commercials and enjoy uninterrupted viewing.
The price for the ad-free plan is almost twice that of the standard plan at $12.99 a month. This plan does not have a discounted annual price.
Hulu (Ad-Supported) + Live TV
Many people will cancel their cable and switch to streaming. The Hulu + Live TV plan allows them to do both. All of the Hulu on-demand content is available in the regular streaming plans. You can also tune in live to more than 75 local and national channels. You can choose from ABC, NBC and Disney Channel channels, Nickelodeons, MTV, Comedy Central and ESPN.
Hulu + Live TV plans cost $64.99 per monthly. If you are a big fan of live sports, news, and talk shows, this plan is a good choice. Others may not find the extra cost worth it, as most viewers prefer to view shows on-demand rather than waiting for a show to air.
Hulu also has many shows that are available the day after airing on TV, so it is not an inconvenience for casual viewers.
Hulu (No Ads) + Live TV
Subscribers can view Hulu’s on-demand content without ads, and tune in to live TV with the Hulu (No Ads + Live TV) plan.
Hulu (No ads) + Live TV subscribers have the option to record up to 50 hours live TV to Hulu’s Cloud DVR. The DVR is useful because not all live TV will be available on Hulu.
Notably, the Hulu streaming library is excluded from the no ads section of this plan. Both live television and DVR recordings will be ad-supported.
This plan is the most expensive Hulu subscription plan and also the most expensive. This plan is $70.99 per monthly.
Hulu Bundles and Add-Ons
Hulu offers add-ons that allow you to access premium channels. These channels are available as add-ons.
- HBO at $14.99 per month
- SHOWTIME starting at $10.99/month
- Cinemax starting at $9.99/month
- STARZ $8.99/month
- ESPN+ at $6.99/month
You can also add an unlimited screens option for $9.99 per month to stream on multiple devices at once. This option is not necessary for most users, but it can be useful if you share your account with a large family or group of roommates.
Hulu is also owned by The Walt Disney Company in a majority, so there are Hulu or Disney+ bundles. The Disney Bundle contains Hulu, Disney+ and ESPN+. The bundle can be customized to include any one of the above-mentioned Hulu subscription plans. The bundle’s price will vary depending on the selections you make.
Do You Need to Subscribe to Hulu
Hulu has a wide range of movies and shows that can be streamed on its platform. You can find the right plan for you with its wide selection of subscription plans and add ons.
The competition is stepping up their game. Netflix and Amazon Prime Video might be more appealing to you if you don’t want to miss Hulu. None of these services include ads.
