  7. Shopify – eCommerce platform suitable for photography
  8. GoDaddy – best website builder for photographers’ business
  9. 1. Wix – The best website builder overall for photographers
Wix, one of the most well-known names in the industry, is the top choice for best website builder for photographers. With its app collection curated for photography (such galleries and art store integrations), as well as the large selection of themes it offers, Wix is one of the most popular website builders.
Wix allows you to create a website for photography.
While there are many photographers out there, Wix is the best. It’s a builder that can be used for any type of website. It’s not an error and I did my research. Let me tell you how Wix rose to the top of the food chain.
Wix offers a lot of features and tools that can simplify and enhance your photography website.
Wix has two options for creating websites: the Artificial Design Intelligence Editor which creates websites based on answers to questions and its regular Editor. Both options are easy to use when creating a website for photography. The results are visually pleasing, too. My experience is that the questions are primarily used to determine your preferences and taste. You might ask about your preference for style and the type of site that you are building.
The system will generate a website within minutes after you are done. I was more than happy with the wait as my ADI-generated website was ready in just half an hour.
It’s easy to set up your photography website. It is not necessary to mess with complicated editors or design tools. This also means that editing is not as easy as it sounds.
Normally, I would be furious about it, but in this instance, I find the limitations to be quite comforting. This is a large part of it because I don’t have much to change.
Yes, I did modify certain elements like the logo and tagline but nothing too complicated or time-consuming. I am more than satisfied with what the ADI gave me – both the layout and design look modern and appealing.
The ADI is a great tool for photographers looking to show off their work. The setup and building process isn’t too difficult because there aren’t many editing options.
With the Wix Editor you can take a more active part in building your website. You can first select from 800+ templates. Because I was curious, I went through every one.
The templates look great, I can attest. Many of the templates are specifically designed for photography websites. They are modern, clean, and minimalistic – great for highlighting your photos. You don’t have to scroll endlessly if you don’t want your fingers to hurt. Instead, focus on your area of expertise.
After you have settled on a theme you can customize your site using Wix’s drag and drop editor. Here you can add your contact forms, photography, and other features.
I won’t lie. I was overwhelmed at first sight by the sheer volume of components and elements. There was too much going on.
After a closer inspection, I found the editor to be extremely intuitive. Although the customization options may seem overwhelming at first, they are now indispensable. These customization options have become one of my favorite features about Wix.
You can still get confused about which editor you should choose by reading the Wix review to see them both in action.
Wix ADI Editor or Editor will still work, but you’ll still have access to which I believe is one of Wix’s main attractions: the thousands of apps. The builder comes with many built-in apps that can be used to enhance your photography website.
    This includes:

    • More than 30 media galleries to help you with your photos and videos.
    • There are many eCommerce tools available if you are interested in selling photos.
    • Search engines will rank you higher with SEO tools.
    • Use marketing tools to attract more customers
    • Book services/calendar for a more efficient schedule.
  10. Wix App Marketplace was also available to me. It is designed to complement the existing apps. It’s obvious that I love Wix. You can transform your basic photography website into an all-in-one one with tons of options.
    Some examples include:
Some of these apps are only available in paid versions. If you are like me, and want to use every one of these apps, your website for photography will cost a lot more.
Visually compelling and user-friendly – Wix is the best website builder available for photographers.
    Pricing
Let’s discuss Wix’s pricing. Wix offers four plans if you are only using the website to show your work and not intending to sell online.

    • Connect Domain (from $45.50 per month) – 500MB storage and basic website building
    • Combo: $85.50 per month – 2GB storage, no Wix ads
    • Unlimited storage ($12.50 per month) – 10GB storage, site booster app
    • VIP ($24.50 per month) – 35GB storage, professional logo, priority customer service
  11. Given the resource-intensive nature photography websites, I recommend spending at least Unlimited
If you wish to accept online payments or dabble in eCommerce, you will need one of Wix’s Business & eCommerce Plans. There are three options available:

    • Business Basic ($17 per month) – 20GB storage, 5 hours of video, customer accounts
    • Business Unlimited ($25 per month) – 35GB storage, 10 video hour, $300 Ad voucher
    • Business VIP ($35 per month) – 50GB storage, unlimited video hours, custom reports

Overall, Wix is more expensive than I would have liked. However, given the features and resources, I don’t think it is unreasonable to give it much grief.

2. Squarespace – a stylish website builder that caters to photographers

Squarespace makes it easy to create a website for photography

When it comes to websites for photographers, looks are everything. Your website will be the home of your photos, but it should also reflect your style and approach. Consider this: Would you hire a photographer with a bleak website?

That’s a huge red flag. This tells me the photographer’s style doesn’t match mine. It also indicates that the photographer is not paying attention to details.

You might be a professional photographer, but you don’t know enough about web design to create a beautiful website. In that case, Squarespace is the right tool for the job.

This builder has the best collection of templates that I have ever seen. The templates are clean, modern, and beautiful. Squarespace is one of the best website builders for artists.

You can also find many templates that are purpose-built. Squarespace also diversifies this category, which I love. You’ll find the right template for you, regardless of whether you are interested in architecture, events or landscapes, as well as people.

A special mention must be made of the well-thought-out templates. Your photos are the main focus and the center of the entire page. The background/design is meant to be a complement, not distract.

These functionalities are worth mentioning:

  • Customers, orders and inventory management.
  • Management of payment, shipping and taxes.
  • Email campaigns, social media integration, and SEO tools.

It is simple and well-designed. Everything makes sense and I love the organization. It is easy to focus on the functions you use and ignore those you don’t.

You should also be able to learn the interface quickly. Although I only spent a few minutes exploring the interface, that is all I needed to feel at home.

You can create a one-stop shop for your photography business with all these tools and features. You can create a blog or move in another direction. It is very easy to move around with this builder – see the Squarespace review.

You may have intended to show your work at first. With Squarespace, you can easily manage clients and book bookings as well as simplify the hiring process. You can also incorporate eCommerce to sell your merchandise and prints.

The builder is ideal for photographers looking to streamline their business. This is a great tool for photographers who want to make the best websites possible without spending months and weeks tweaking every detail. Squarespace will take care of all the details.

Squarespace is a top website for photographers because of its beautiful design, intuitive control center, and rich features.

Pricing

What is it going to set you back to have everything in your hands? Squarespace isn’t cheap, but Squarespace doesn’t make me cry.

The builder offers four plans:

  • Personal ($14.00 per month) – Unlimited bandwidth and storage
  • Business ($18.00 per month) – Advanced Analytics and eCommerce with a 3.3% Fee
  • Basic Commerce ($26.00 per month) – Customer accounts and professional email addresses, as well as eCommerce without a fee
  • Advanced Commerce (for $40.00 per month) – Selling subscriptions and abandoned cart recovery

The entry plan has fewer features than the others. If you are just looking to show off your work, however, any one of the four plans will suffice.

If you plan to sell your work online, I recommend that you get at least Basic Commerce. These plans include a variety of eCommerce tools and bonuses that can be used to sell online.

3. Zenfolio – a photography-centered website builder

Zenfolio is a website builder that can meet all your photography needs. Zenfolio is a website builder that focuses on photography. It offers many tools and features specific to the field, including watermarks and a Lightroom plugin, which allows for simple picture uploading.

Zenfolio makes it easy to create a website for photography

Zenfolio is a serious website builder who cares about photography. Zenfolio is a website builder that was built with photographers in mind. Everything about the builder is focused on , creating an all-in one platform that showcases, shares, and sells photography.

Zenfolio’s singular focus on one niche is how it made it onto my top 10 list of best website builders for photographers. Let’s now talk about Zenfolio’s photography-focused offerings.

First, let me talk about looks. Photography is all about visuals. This is because Zenfolio offers some beautiful templates. They are simple, modern, and uncluttered – they show your work effortlessly.

Aside from that, Zenfolio’s templates are easy to navigate. If you hover over any of them, you will see a short description and a brief explanation of what the template is good for. The brief explanations are very helpful for me to understand the selling point of each template.

Here’s the bad news. Zenfolio has only 11 templates. (Not to mention that only 7 templates are available for regular $3.00 users).

While I recognize that Zenfolio has a mission to make websites easy for photographers, it is the main focus of our review . Despite the fact that there isn’t much choice, it doesn’t give the impression of simplifying and keeping things simple. It just feels incomplete, and I found myself checking to see if there were more options.

However, my disappointment at the lack of templates options was quickly forgotten when I discovered its editor. Zenfolio makes it easy to modify your layout in a number of ways. Zenfolio allows you to customize your layout quite extensively. It’s easy to use, and should not be a problem for anyone, even complete beginners.

Let’s now talk about Zenfolio’s features specifically designed for photographers websites. This is where Zenfolio shines brightest, as it understands exactly what the best photography websites should include.

Zenfolio makes it easy to upload and manage photos. You can upload high-quality RAW photos and keep them safe. No need to deal with low quality JPEG compression. You can also drag and drop multiple files at once with the batch uploader.

I am also impressed by the fact Zenfolio has taken security measures to protect your work. These include pre-designed and custom watermarks, password protected and restricted-access galleries and photos, as well as right-click copy protection .

There are many features that can be tailored to your clients, including a number of options for photographers. The client access page for proofing is one of my favorite features. This page allows you to give clients access to the photos that you have taken.

Some other notable features include:

  • Support for digital sales and downloadings
  • Integrated shopping carts
  • Video hosting.
  • Integration via social media
  • SEO tools.
  • Website visitor email capture.

You can also integrate BookMe, an online booking and scheduling app. BookMe allows you to access a variety of booking, scheduling and payment features including:

  • Management of bookings
  • Synchronization of calendar and availability.
  • Flexible billing
  • Stripe integration

These functions are very useful and I can see myself getting quite a lot of mileage from them. BookMe is an add-on that costs extra. It will cost you an extra $10 per month.

It’s a recurring expense that I find a little steep. If you have the funds, and are ready to spend them to make your life easier, I would recommend it!

Zenfolio is an excellent choice for a website dedicated to photography. It offers many features that allow you to showcase and monetize your work.

Pricing

Zenfolio has three pricing plans. Two are better suited for small photographers, and one is more suitable for professional photographers.

  • Portfolio ($3.00 a month) – 15 GB storage, 25 videos, one-page website, people filter
  • PortfolioPlus ($12.75 per month) – 100GB storage, 75 videos, multiple pages website, selling digital downloads and integrated shopping card processing
  • ProSuite ($25.50 per month) – 1TB storage and 250 videos. Automated client marketing campaigns. Integrated calendaring, invoicing and payment solutions.

Zenfolio Portfolio is not intended for professionals. It can be used if you have a limited budget. Assess your skills and budget to find the plan that best suits your needs.

4. SITE123 – A user-friendly website for photographers

SITE123 is the website for you if you value ease-of-use before you decide to be the best website builder. It is easy to set up your website quickly. The builder’s features like creating custom albums and galleries are a big draw.

Site123 makes it easy to create a website for photography

SITE123 claims it is the “most easy to use website builder” when it comes to photography websites.

It is easy to set up. You simply need to select the type of website you want and the system will create one for you.

Once you have uploaded your content, the website will be ready to go. You don’t need any technical knowledge. This approach is simple and straightforward, which I have to admit, I love. It’s quick and easy . I was able to get my site up in under 30 minutes.

This is a great article if you’re new to website building, or if you have a limited time.

SITE123’s simplicity of use extends beyond the site setup.

Let’s first clarify that there is some confusion. SITE123 will tell you that it has many templates. Technically, it is true.

Here’s the truth: these templates, while attractive and modern, are actually very similar. Let me tell you.

After much research, I discovered that SITE123 refers to them as templates. These “templates” are simply different arrangements of dozens of content blocks .

You might ask, “What does this all mean for me?”

It means you can pick a pre-designed arrangement you like, also known as a “template”, if you don’t want to spend time tweaking every detail. This option is perfect for anyone who wants to quickly get their photography website up and running.

Alternatively, allows you to combine blocks according to your preferences to create your website. You can also rearrange the order of these blocks.

Personally, I would choose the former. It is easy to combine the blocks and arrange them to create an appealing and practical layout.

Site123 doesn’t offer many editing options. This is explained in the SITE123 review. You can only edit fonts and colors. The block system gives you more freedom and doesn’t rely on a template.

On the other side of the spectrum, some may find the limitations of the block system to be helpful as it acts as a guide. Beginning web designers can learn the basics of web design by not being able to drag and drop elements.

The editor is intuitive and simple. A well-designed interface is something I appreciate. All editing tools are neatly grouped to the left in this example, keeping it simple and clean.

5. Zyro – Affordable Websites for Photographers

Zyro is another entry in our best website builder list for photographers. Zyro is a relatively new platform that has quickly made a name for its ease-of-use and speedy website creation. It also includes stunning templates with pictures and great AI business tools. This platform is cheaper than the closest competitors.

Zyro makes it easy to create a website for photography

Zyro may be new on the scene, but it already shows all the signs it can take on the big dogs. Let me tell you why.

You can easily create a website with beautiful photography in just minutes. This is a popular choice for busy bees.

Zyro allows you to build a website using either a template or the AI website generator. The builder claims that the AI website generator is easier. However, I can tell you that they are both easy and fast. The template option is best for those with a better idea of how their site should look. All you need to do here is select a template. All of them are very visually appealing and modern with a strong focus on images.

No matter which option you choose, the process should take only a few minutes. Both options took me less than 3 minutes, although I was still undecided about some stylistic choices. Aside from that, I am certain I could cut down on the time.

Both options allow customizations using Zyro’s drag-and drop website builder. It is one of my favorite websites.

It is intuitive and easy to use. You have plenty of space to edit and tweak the configurations, which are neatly placed on your left. Add and modify elements, layouts, designs, and texts easily without having to know a single line code.

The grid system does reduce flexibility, but I don’t see that as a problem. Surprisingly, I don’t find the loss too bothersome while editing my website. I was instead too distracted by how smooth the editor runs.

This foolproof web design method is sure to be appreciated by many. This is especially important for people who don’t have much experience in web design but still want a nice home to display their photos.

Let’s move on to Zyro’s tools, features and capabilities. If you plan to use your site as a way to showcase your work, the builder offers all the necessary features, including inventory management, shipping automation and CRM tools.

Zyro has AI tools that can boost your photography site. You can use them as a logo maker, content generator and image enhancer. To see if these are useful or just gimmicks, I have tried most of them.

Zyro impressed with its speedy setup, great editor and many other useful features.

Pricing

Zyro’s appeal is not limited to its easy setup and useful features. Actually, ‘s main attraction isn’t just its quick setup and handy features.

The architect has four plans.

  • Website (from $2.69 per month) – Unlimited storage, visitor chat, embed code and AI tools
  • Business (4.41 per month) – Unlimited storage, 100 products, and 1% application fee
  • Online Store (8.01 per month) – Unlimited storage, 100 products and 0% application fee. Visitors can also remarket.
  • Advanced Store (14.31 per month) – Unlimited storage, unlimited products, and 0% application fees

The Unleashed plan will suffice if you only need a portfolio of photos. It’s great and very affordable. If you want to sell online, you will need an Advanced Store or Online Store.

The builder is the most affordable option on our list of top website builders for photographers. If you are looking to build a site quickly and without significant investment, this is the best option.
