1. 8notes

8notes divides its content into three sections. Instruments Styles and Artists. This means that no matter your musical preference, there will be something for you. Nearly all of the sheet music is available in MP3 and MIDI formats so that you can listen while browsing the rest.

IMSLP is a well-known name for anyone who uses sheet music. This site was established in 2006 and offers the largest selection of printable sheet music on the internet.

The library contains 170,000 individual works, 540,000 score, 65,000 recordings and 20,000 composers. It also has 555 performers. You can find enough content to last a lifetime. It is easy to use the search function. There are filters for genre, period, nationality and instrument.

3. Pianotte

Pianotte’s downside is that it only focuses on piano sheet music. It has a lot of modern music. It should be your first choice if you are more into Coldplay and Chopin. It also has some of most popular music from recent years.

It might not be the most aesthetically-pleasing page to look at, but the site more than makes up for it with its content. You can download several hundred tracks, all in PDF format.

The site has a standard release schedule for new content. Professionals can pay $55/year to get unlimited downloads, high quality lossless audio, HD Radio, and early release access.

You won’t find Justin Bieber’s latest song in the free sheet music. The free sheet music is mainly focused on classical composers and older artists. You can search by composer or instrument, time period, musical form, or other criteria to make navigation easier.

 

Musopen has more than 100,000 PDF files for classical music. These PDF files can be downloaded to your computer, or saved in your Musopen account. You can then refer to them later.

5. Mutopia Project

Mutopia Project has more than 2,000 music pieces. Each piece is licensed under Creative Commons. This means that you can download any music and modify it without worrying about legal consequences.

Although the site is focused on classical music, there are many other genres and arrangements available. Every download comes with a PDF and MIDI file.

ChoralWiki is a community-driven Wiki that anyone can contribute new content. It is rapidly growing in popularity, and users continue to add new content.
