The Monster Legends Breeding Guide

Choose the monsters you would like to have offspring with your desired

Monster Legends combines a variety of activities into a single game. However, being a Monster Master is only possible if you have a diverse and strong bestiary.

You won’t be able to defeat computer-owned monsters or participate in multiplayer battles if you don’t have a solid army of monsters. Understanding the game’s components and how they relate to monster creation is essential to building a formidable army of beasts.

Miguel Co / Lifewire

To create a legendary Monster Legends team you will need to be proficient at breeding monsters.

The Breeding Process

It is easy to pair two monsters to create a dominant beast. First, select the Breeding Mountain on your island close to the Hatchery. Next, click the Breed link. This will open a table with all of your active monsters. Next, choose the two monsters you wish to pair. One from each column, and one from each side. Then, push the START BIRTHING button.

Once breeding is complete, click the TAKEoption to put your hybrid’s eggs in the hatchery. A countdown timer will be displayed at the bottom. Both breeding and hatching must take place within a set time. The length of the wait depends on how rare and monster-level you are. You can speed up these times by investing gold or gems, and taking advantage of promotional incentives.

Once your new monster hatches, you can decide whether to sell it or place it in the right habitat.

A basic hybrid is usually created by breeding two single-element monsters (also called common beasts). If you are lucky, it can also be a rare or epic monster. There are also dual-element monsters that can be bred.

Common monsters are usually weakest when they attack their element, but have the best resistance against it. However, hybrid monsters can have different strengths and weaknesses depending on their breeding combination.

While the steps to create monsters are simple, it is not easy to know which two to combine to achieve the desired result.

Below are some of the most popular breeding combinations in the game, classified by base element.

Some details in Monster Legends are subject to change as the breeding functionality is always evolving.

Fire

Monster Legends Wiki

The fire element is the first element you are introduced to while playing Monster Legends. Monsters that are derived from the Fire element do well when they attack Nature-based beasts. The Water element is their greatest weakness in defense. The following are well-known Fire breeding pairs, and the resulting hybrids:

  • Firesaur and Treezard (Nature: This combination results in Greenasaur (Epic) or Pandaken (Epic). Both monsters possess the Immune To Burning trait as well as a weakness for Water. Each monster hatches in just 30 seconds.
  • Firesaur + Rockilla: The offspring will be either Firekong (rare) or Freettle (rare). Firekong has Immune to Stun while Freettle has the Energized trait. Both are susceptible to Water and Dark, and both hatch in 5 minutes or less.
  • Thunder Eagle (Thunder), Firesaur: This pairing creates Thundenix or Gigram (rare). Both animals have the Immune-to-Blind trait, and are susceptible to Earth and Water. Thundenix takes four hours to emerge from its egg, while Gigram takes 5.5 hours.
  • Firesaur and Mersnake (Water). This hybrid offspring can be either Sealion (rare) or Vapwhirl. Both share the Immune to Burning trait, and a weakness to Thunder. Vapwhirl takes five hours to hatch while Sealion takes six hours.
  • Firesaur + Tyannoking (Dark: This combination produces either Flickie (rare) or Firetaur. Both of these monsters are immune to blindness and weak against water and light attacks. Flickie can be ready for battle after nine hours, while a Firetaur hatches in 12 hours.
  • Firesaur+ Genie (Magic),: The resulting hybrid is Pyrook (rare). These powerful monsters are immune to blindness and more sensitive to water and nature than normal. The Pyrook egg opens in 13 hours, while the Djinn is able to open it in 17 hours.
  • Firesaur and Metalsaur (Metal). This combination results in Esmelter (rare) or Fornax. These formidable beasts are immune to burning and take less than a day to hatch. Their weaknesses are Magic and Water-based attack.

Because they are both considered opposite elements, a Firesaur can’t breed with a Light-based creature.

Nature

Monster Legends Wiki

The nature element gives monsters an advantage over beasts of Magic, but they are susceptible to critical Fire attacks. Here are some well-known Nature breeding pairings and the hybrids that resulted.

  • Treezard and Firesaur: This combination produces Greenasaur and Pandaken (Epic). Both monsters possess the Immune To Burning trait as well as a weakness for Water. Each one hatches within 30 seconds.
  • Treezard and Rockilla (Earth). This hybrid offspring can be either Rarawr (rare) or Tarzape (rare). The Rarawr with long hair is susceptible to Fire and Dark elements. Tarzape also includes the Hardened trait, which has similar weaknesses. The hatching times are between 10 and 6 minutes, respectively.
  • Mersnake + Treezard (Water): This pair’s offspring is either Sheluke (rare) or Bumblesnout. Sheluke is more vulnerable to Thunder and Fire, and it takes six hours for her to hatch. Bumblesnout has similar characteristics and takes five hours to hatch.
  • Treezard+ Tyrannoking(Dark) The result is either Utochomp (rare) or Dendrosaur. Both have the Energized trait, and are susceptible to Fire and Light. To hatch, these beasts need to be left alone for between nine and twelve hours.
  • Treezard and Genie (Magic). This combination produces Bloomskips (Epic) or Pandalfs (Epic). These monsters are immune to blind attacks but less resistant to fire. It takes 35 hours for Pandalf to hatch while Bloomskips take 13 hours to enter the world.
  • Treezard and Light Spirit (Light).: These two monsters’ offspring are either Vixsun (rare) or Rudicius (rare). Both creatures have the Immune to Poison trait and a Fire and Magic vulnerability. Rudicius takes 21 hours to hatch while Vixsun hatches within 16 hours. Rudicius waits for about 21 hours.
  • Treezard+Metalsaur (Metal). This hybrid can be either Jonskeer (rare) or Crux (common). Both are immune from Poison and have a 22-hour breeding window, 26-hour hatching period. The only weakness of these high-level warriors is when they are subject to Magic and Fire attacks.

Because they are both considered opposite elements, a Treezard can’t be bred to a Thunder-based creature.

Earth

Monster Legends Wiki

Thunder elementals are most affected by Earth monsters and they should be afraid of the Dark to protect themselves. Their resistance is greatly weakened by Dark creatures Here are some well-known Earth breeding pairings and the hybrids that resulted.

  • Rockilla and Firesaur: This combination produces rare hybrids Firekong (rare) or Freettle (rare). Firekong has Immune to Stun and Freettle has the Energized trait. Both monsters are weak to Dark and Water, and they hatch in less than five minutes.
  • Rockilla and Treezard (Nature ) The hybrid offspring of Rarawr and Tarzape is rare. The long-horned Rarawr is susceptible to Fire and Dark elements and has the Attuned trait. Tarzape also includes the Hardened trait, which has similar weaknesses. The hatching times are between 10 and 6 minutes, respectively.
  • Rockilla and Thunder Eagle (Thunder),: This combination produces Electrex (rare) or Bonbon (rare). Both of these hybrids have a weakness for Dark. Electrex has the Hardened trait and a one hour hatching time. Bonbon has Energized and takes six hours to be ready for use.
  • Rockilla and Mersnake are both water-based.: The offspring will be either Gastosquish (Epic) or Musu (Epic). Gastosquish hatches in six hours and has the Hardened trait, which includes Thunder and Dark vulnerabilities. Musu is the first dragon you can own. It requires a 35-hour hatching time, but it’s worth it. It shares the same weaknesses and traits as its Uncommon cousin.
  • Rockilla and Tyrannoking (Dark: This combination produces either Obsidia (rare) or Beefcake (rare). Obsidia and Beefcake have a weakness to Light attacks. The former takes nine hours to hatch while the latter takes an hour.
  • Rockilla and Light Spirit (Light). The hybrid is Light Sphinx (Epic) or Goldcore (Epic). Both of these mighty beasts are immune to stain but vulnerable when protecting Dark or Magic. The Light Sphinx is a majestic creature that hatches in just 16 hours while the Goldcore, which can be difficult to find, takes 35 hours.
  • Rockilla (Metal) This combination produces Rockneto (rare). Each top-level fighter requires 22 hours of breeding and 26 hours for hatching. Rockneto, who is vulnerable to Dark and Magic elements, is Immune To Stun. The worm-like Gravoid has the Hardened trait.

Because they are opposite elements, a Rockilla can’t be bred to a Magic-based creature.

Thunder

Monster Legends Wiki

Thunder Eagles cannot breed with Nature-based monsters because they are considered to be opposite elements.

Water

Monster Legends Wiki

Fire-based monsters will be smothered by creatures with water in their DNA . However, they are susceptible to the Thunder element when they square off. Here are some well-known Water breeding pairings and the resulting hybrids.

Because they are opposite elements, a Mersnake can’t be bred to a Dark-based creature. Additionally, a Mersnake can be bred with a Dark-based monster to produce a second Common Mersnake. However, it is possible to create an Epic Razfeesh.

Dark

Monster Legends Wiki

Dark monsters must focus their attacks upon Earth creatures when possible, while avoiding the obvious Light elements. Here are some examples of well-known Dark breeding pairings and the hybrids that resulted.
