How to enable Ray Tracing in Minecraft

It’s likely that you didn’t know it, but Minecraft has received a 2021 upgrade to its realism. This is called Ray Tracing and was created by Nvidia, the chipmaker. Ray tracing was originally designed for PC gamers but will now be available for Xbox Series X users as part of the new Minecraft RTX.
This article will show you how to enable Ray Tracing in Minecraft.
What is Ray Tracing?
Before you can understand how to enable ray trace in Minecraft, it is important that you understand what ray tracer is.
It is a somewhat obscure term that not all gamers are aware of. However, it can have a significant impact on your gaming experience if you don’t play Solitaire.
It has been a problem to portray light and shadows in videogames. This is also true for digital sound effects (SFX). This is where the real challenge lies in creating realism that is top-notch. It was not that easy to accurately portray lighting in games until recent years.
Nvidia recently launched the new ray tracing technology based upon its innovative RTX chipsets. Ray tracing allows for stunning lighting in all genres of games. So, Minecraft fans have something to look forward too.
Minimal requirements for Minecraft Ray Tracing
If you are going to use Minecraft RTX, it is important to consider your specific graphics card. Ray tracing can be very resource-intensive, so Nvidia recommends that you get the GeForce RTX 2160 or later if you want to make Minecraft RTX run smoothly. Here’s a list with RTX-compatible graphics cards.
GeForce RTX 2060
GeForce RTX2060 Super
GeForce RTX 2070
GeForce RTX 2070 SUPER
GeForce RTX 2080
GeForce RTX 2080 SUPER
GeForce RTX 2080 Ti
Titan RTX
But, just because you have one of these doesn’t guarantee that everything will work smoothly. How the game behaves will depend on your system specs. Here’s what you should consider as a minimum.
Intel Core i5 10400 and AMD Ryzen 5 3600
Corsair DDR4 RAM 16GB and 32GB
Samsung 860 EVO SSD 250GB or Samsung 970 EVO SSD 250GB
The above configuration should be considered minimum required to run Minecraft RTX properly. Frame drops can be a problem if you go lower.
Minecraft RTX: Setting up Your Computer
It is important to properly prepare everything for ray-tracing. This is a complex and difficult feature. After installing and enabling Minecraft RTX, you will need to update your Nvidia GPU driver. Here’s how you do it.
Visit Nvidia’s official site to download the Google GeForce Experience and install it.
Start the GeForce Experience App.
Navigate to the Drivers Tab.
The app will suggest installing the latest drivers automatically. You can check the upper-right corner of the app for any updates if it doesn’t.
You can enjoy Minecraft RTX once your graphics drivers have been updated.
RTX in Minecraft
