How to Clear the Cache in Kodi

The media center software allows you to organize, store, and view your video content. Kodi is a great platform for streaming audio and video from set-top boxes, Android devices, televisions, and home theaters. The interface of Kodi is fantastic, there are a lot of plugins and add-ons available, and it is easy to set up. It’s not surprising that so many people have switched their entire viewing habits to Kodi.

You might have noticed a slowing down in streaming speed if you are a regular Kodi user. It’s not surprising that Kodi sometimes experiences buffering and slowdowns after so many hours of use. Many playback issues are caused by network instability and buffering slowdowns. However, Kodi is too slow to be used reliably. It is possible to clear the cache when this happens.

Clearing the cache in Kodi, like Android tablets or phones, is not something you need to do often. The process can fix minor problems with interface functionality and playback. A plugin is required to clear your cache in Kodi, which is not the case for Android.

The Merlin Wizard add-on, and similar programs, were used in the past to clean out caches. However, these repositories no longer work.

This guide uses Kodi 19.0 on a Windows 10 computer. To install the Super Repo repository, you will need to first install it. Super Repo includes many add-ons to Kodi and a tool called SIMTECH Wizard that clears Kodi cache.

Installing Super Repo

You’ve probably added many plugins to Kodi over the years if you’re an experienced Kodi user. It can be overwhelming if you are new to the platform. It’s easy to install Super Repo or any other repository.

 

  1. To begin, click or tap the gear icon in the left-hand menu to go into the settings menu. This is the place where you will find the internal file browser that allows you to add third-party plugins and repositories.
  2. To open the text field, select the file manager and tap or double-click ‘Add source’.
  3. Use Kodi’s built in keyboard to enter http://srp.nu without quotes.
  4. To add the source to Kodi, name the new repository ‘SuperRepo’ and then click OK>.

You have SuperRepo now downloaded. Although this is a tedious task, Kodi makes it easy. However, the steps are straightforward once they have been explained to you. Return to the Kodi home screen and click on “Add-Ons”. Next, select the package item (it looks almost like an open box) from the upper left corner.

Select “Install from zip file,” scroll down and select “SuperRepo.” Choose “krypton,” then “all,” and then select “superrepo.kodi.krypton.all-0.7.04.zip.” Note that the zip file may have a different name as time passes and additional SuperRepo builds drop, but there will only be one zip file in the directory, and it should be straightforward to identify which file you need. Select OK, then the SuperRepo files that will be extracted from the zip archive.

You now need to install the files onto Kodi. You will now need to install the files into Kodi. These add-ons can be explored at your own leisure. For now, you should select “Program Additionals,” then ” “SIMTECH WIZARD,”, and then click “Install.”

Once you have the Simtech Wizard installed, it is time to open it in order to clear your Kodi cache. You will need to return to the main menu by pressing “Backspace” and then click on “Add-ons.” Choose “Program Add-ons”, and then select “Simtech wizard.”

Clearing Kodi Cache on Firestick

While Kodi does not have an option to clear the cache from its native menu, you can do this on your Firestick. This is as simple as clearing the cache.

Do the following to clear your Firestick’s cache:

  • Scroll down and click on the Firestick’s home screen.
  • Select “Applications”
  • Click to “Manage Installed Apps.”
  • Select “Kodi.”
  • Select to “Clear Cache.”
  • Confirm the cache-clearing operation.

The following steps can help you resolve problems with your Firestick and Kodi.

Remember that streaming and buffering problems can also be caused by network issues. If streaming problems persist after clearing cache, you should check the router settings or contact your ISP to address network speed issues.

Remember that streaming from certain Kodi repositories may be unstable or unpredictable. Always ensure you are using legal and safe repositories.
